Transform Your Mind With Clinical Hypnosis

Sydney-Hypnotherapists Joel Annesley

Do you feel like your mind works against you?

Is it always busy and overthinking everything?

Are you at the mercy of all your thoughts and feelings?

Does this leave you overwhelmed, tired, and exhausted?

Make your mind work for you.

Anything we do repetitively becomes a Mindpath in our subconscious mind. The more we run the pattern, the bigger and clearer the pathway becomes. Our brain is like a supercomputer, exceptionally effective at running these patterns, regardless if they are positive or negative.

The magic of hypnosis allows us to bypass our conscious mind and access the subconscious mind. In this space, we help you unlock the ability to re-discover and create new, supportive Mindpaths. This can help to:

  • Quieten down your internal headspace
  • Put you back in control of your thoughts and feelings
  • Feel lighter, more energetic, and ready to live your life!

“Prior to my sessions with Joel I had struggled from the age of 12 with a totally out of control phobia.
I can now say I am in control of how I choose to live my life from day to day. I am relaxed, I am calm and quietly positive in regards to what used to rule how and where I lived.”

Meet Joel Annesley

As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, Strategic Psychotherapist, NLP Master Practitioner, and Life Coach, Joel Annesley has a wealth of experience in helping others overcome their challenges.

But he also understands your struggles firsthand, having previously suffered from acute social anxiety and shyness. His caring and understanding nature, combined with his calming and gentle presence, creates a safe and supportive environment where you can feel at ease and work towards lasting change.

Joel’s favourite quote sums up his approach perfectly: “Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”George Bernard Shaw.

My experience of working with Joel far exceeded my expectations. I really had no idea what Clinical Hypnotherapy actually was before I started, but I have learned that it’s a deeply meditative state and a path to the most extraordinary healing.

Over the course of three months, I was able to move beyond some excruciating, self-destructive and firmly held beliefs about myself to a place where those beliefs have become a distant memory. I feel happier and more alive. Playfulness and joy have entered my world again. I went through a series of sessions with Joel and to be honest, the true depth of my healing didn’t really become apparent to me until the last couple of sessions, when I started to realise just how much happier and more free I actually felt.

Joel is a profoundly empathic and wise human being. He has an innate understanding of where healing needs to take place, and how to gently and very effectively move you in that direction. I am astonished at my extraordinary shift and progress. I cannot recommend Joel highly enough. He is a very gifted therapist.”

Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnosis

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state of heightened awareness and focused attention. It is a natural occurrence that can happen during everyday activities like reading, driving, or watching a movie. In fact, people experience hypnotic states multiple times a day.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that utilises hypnosis to help people make positive changes in their lives. During a hypnotherapy session, a qualified therapist will guide you into a relaxed, trance-like state and offer suggestions to help you make desired changes at a deeper level.

There are two main types of hypnotherapy: group hypnosis and clinical hypnotherapy. Group hypnosis is not a form of clinical treatment and is not meant to diagnose or treat any specific issues. Clinical hypnotherapy, on the other hand, is a one-on-one therapy session that is targeted towards helping individuals address specific concerns or issues.

How is hypnotherapy different from stage-show hypnosis?

The hypnosis often depicted in stage shows or movies is very different from the hypnotherapy experience offered at Mindpath Makers. These shows usually involve volunteers who are willing to be entertained by being put into humorous or embarrassing situations. It may seem like the participants are giving up all control to the hypnotist, but this is not the case in real hypnotherapy.

At Mindpath Makers, we do not use pocket watches, or susceptibility tests, or ask you to give up control during hypnotherapy sessions. In fact, you remain in control of your experience at all times and can choose to end the trance state at any point if you feel uncomfortable.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

As a hypnotherapist, I can tell you that anyone can be hypnotized, as long as they are willing to be hypnotized and are able to follow simple instructions. Some people may be more susceptible to hypnosis than others, but with a trained hypnotherapist, almost anyone can be hypnotized. It’s important to keep in mind that hypnosis is not a form of sleep or unconsciousness, but rather a state of focused attention and relaxation. During hypnosis, the person remains aware and in control at all times.

Is hypnosis safe?

Hypnosis is considered to be a safe and effective form of treatment when performed by a trained and certified hypnotherapist. It is important to find a qualified and experienced hypnotherapist who has received appropriate training and follows ethical guidelines.

Hypnosis is not suitable for everyone, and there are certain conditions where it should be avoided. For example, hypnosis should not be used as a substitute for appropriate medical treatment, and it is not recommended for people who have certain mental disorders, such as psychosis or dissociative disorders.

As with any form of treatment, it is always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional before starting hypnosis. They will be able to assess whether hypnosis is suitable for you and help you to find a qualified and reputable hypnotherapist if needed.

What can hypnosis be used for?

Hypnosis is a state of focused attention and relaxation that has been used for a variety of purposes, including stress and anxiety management, habit modification, performance enhancement, and insomnia. It may not work for everyone and it is important to consult with a healthcare professional before starting hypnosis.

Can a person be made to do something against their will while in hypnosis?

No, a person cannot be made to do something against their will while in hypnosis. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention and relaxation, and the person remains in control of their thoughts and actions at all times. It is not possible for a hypnotherapist to control the mind of the person being hypnotized or make them do something against their will.

In fact, one of the fundamental principles of hypnosis is that the person being hypnotized must be willing to accept and respond to the suggestions of the hypnotherapist. If a person is not willing to be hypnotized or does not want to follow the suggestions of the hypnotherapist, they will not enter into a hypnotic state or be responsive to the hypnotherapy.

It is important to remember that hypnosis is not a form of mind control or manipulation, but rather a tool that can be used to help people make positive changes in their lives with their own free will.
